Marble & Granite Sealer, Grout Sealer, Concrete Sealer
Stone Care Granite & Marble Sealer is a durable and highly-effective water-based impregnating sealer engineered to provide superior protection from water and oil-based stains on granite countertops, marble and travertine tile, limestone, slate, quartzite and all porous natural stone. Excellent concrete sealer too.
This sealer creates an invisible barrier resistant to stains, while allowing the surface to properly breathe. Low-odor, water-based formula makes for easy application when sealing granite countertops, marble floors and all other surfaces.
Please note that this Stone Care granite, marble & travertine sealer will not protect against surfaces damages from scratching or chemical etching from spills of acidic foods (such as: fruit juice, vinegar, wine, coffee, soda) or improper cleaning products that can occur on calcite-based stones like marble, travertine, limestone & slate.
It is a common mis-conception that sealers will prevent chemical etching. This is not true. No impregnating sealer can protect against etching. To prevent etching always use coasters, trivets, place mats, cutting boards and only use cleaning products specifically formulated to be safe on marble. (All products available on this website are safe on marble and all surfaces unless otherwise indicated.)
This Stone Care Impregnating Sealer is a superior granite sealer, marble sealer, travertine sealer, concrete sealer. Also for use on limestone, slate, sandstone, onyx, quartzite, etc. You do not need a special or specific sealer for a particular type of stone or surface. This sealer works equally well on all porous natural stone and concrete surfaces.
Directions For Use:
Thoroughly clean the surface removing all adhesions, dirt and dust.
Stone Care Marble & Granite Sealer will not change the color of most surfaces. However, it is always best to make a test application on a sample tile, left over piece or small area prior to sealing granite countertops and all other surfaces. Apply to test area, let cure for 48 hours and observe for satisfactory results.
Floors: Do Not seal newly installed floors for at least 2 weeks (preferrably 3 weeks) to allow time for the stone and grout to completely dry and for repeated cleanings necessary to remove the accumulated dust and dirt typical of floor installations.
Countertops: Sealer can be applied to countertops immediately after installation and complete cleaning.
For complete step-by-step instructions for applying and working with sealers see our All About Sealing Manual (click here).
Coverage: With proper application one quart of Stone Care sealer will cover 75 to 125 square feet depending on the porosity of the stone. The absorbency of natural stone can vary widely, thus coverage for any particular stone installation can only be estimated.
For effective sealing the stone must be allowed to absorb as much sealant as possible to saturate the stone and should not be "painted on" in an attempt to extend coverage.
Multiple applications may be necessary depending on the porosity of the surface being sealed. One application is usually enough on polished marble and hone-finished travertine (polished travertine may not need sealing). Two applications are generally required for most granites ( a few varieties will only need one coat or no sealer at all). Very porous mercantile granites, sandstone, quartzite and any other highly porous surface may require three or more applications.
Wait at least two hours between applications. To test if the stone is perfectly sealed, create a puddle of water on a few different spots of a sealed area and wait for half an hour, then wipe dry. If the surface of the stone did not darken it means that the stone is perfectly sealed.
CAUTION:
Sealers cause eye and skin irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. In case of contact, flush thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. Do not swallow. Keep out of reach of children.
